Samsøe Samsøe: ‘2022 is an exciting year for us’

Scandinavian brand Samsøe Samsøe has a legacy that spans nearly three decades. Founded by  entrepreneur brothers Klaus and Preben Samsøe in 1993, the brand started out as a tiny store in Copenhagen’s Latin Quarter selling jewellery and menswear. It went bankrupt twice, before being bought out in 2000 by business partners Peter Sextus and Per-Ulrik Andersen, who rescued the business and began making high-quality basics before adding ready-to-wear menswear in 2000 and womenswear in 2006.

Womenswear now makes up 70% of sales, while menswear makes up the remaining 30%. A unisex capsule collection in 2021.

Samsøe Samsøe now has more 45 stores stores globally, including one site in the UK, as well as its own direct-to-consumer website, samsoe.com, which launched in 2008 and has main markets in Europe across Scandinavia, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

The brand also sells wholesale, and has more than 1,500 stockists worldwide. Its 65 UK stockists include Selfridges in London and The Hip Store online.  Overseas stockists include Nordstrom in the US and Le Bon Marché in Paris. Retail prices range from £10 for socks to £960 for a men’s waterproof jacket.
